Our Story

GenXpertRewards was born from a simple frustration: the gap between having credit cards and actually getting value from them.

I spent years watching friends and family use premium travel cards for their groceries (earning 1% when they could earn 6%), or worse, missing out on thousands of dollars in rewards because they thought optimizing credit cards meant becoming a spreadsheet warrior.

The credit card rewards space has two extremes: people who obsessively track every point across dozens of cards, and people who just use whatever's in their wallet and hope for the best. Neither approach works for busy professionals and families.

That's why I created GenXpertRewards. I wanted to offer the expertise of a rewards maximizer without the time commitment. A service that could audit your spending, build a custom strategy, and give you simple rules to follow—all in less time than it takes to watch a Netflix episode.

Our philosophy is simple: your credit card strategy should enhance your life, not consume it. Two to three well-chosen cards. Clear decision rules. Set-and-forget simplicity. Results you can see in your account balance.

Strategy Should Be Sustainable

The best credit card strategy is the one you can maintain indefinitely without thinking about it. If your approach requires constant vigilance, quarterly reviews, or complex mental calculations at checkout, it's not sustainable. We design strategies you can "set and forget" while still capturing 90%+ of available rewards.

Less Is More

The rewards game has diminishing returns. Going from 0 to 2 cards optimized for your spending can capture enormous value. Going from 2 to 10 cards captures incrementally less while exponentially increasing complexity. We stop at the point where additional cards don't justify the mental overhead.

Lifestyle Over Points

Some people optimize for maximum points accumulation. We optimize for maximum life enjoyment. Sometimes that means taking a slightly lower earning rate on a card with better customer service, simpler redemption, or perks you'll actually use. The goal isn't the most points—it's the most value delivered to your life.

Realistic Redemption

Points are worthless if you never use them. We focus on rewards you'll actually redeem rather than theoretical maximum values. A strategy that delivers $800 in cashback you'll spend is better than one that delivers $1,200 in points you'll forget about.

I’m a GenX professional who got tired of seeing my friends and family leave money on the table every time they purchased something. I thought, we’re in our peak earning and spending years—the "groceries and gas" era of life - surely there's a better way to get more from the day to day.

I looked into the "points world" and found a community of hobbyists who spend 40 hours a week on spreadsheets, sign-up bonuses, percentages, and "mileage runs." As a busy professional, I didn't have time for that—and I’m guessing you don’t either.

I founded GenXPertRewards because I knew there had to be a middle ground. The last few years, I had coupled a busy sales job traveling with distilling the complex world of loyalty programs into a high-impact, low-maintenance system for myself - I found that there were lots of easy, every day ways to maximize the dollars I was already spending, I'm now working to make this my full time job: helping clients get more from their dollars.

The credit card industry is designed to be confusing. It thrives on "breakage"—the points you never use and the rewards you never claim. I’ve turned my Gen X skepticism into a superpower, vetting programs, transfer partners, and card benefits to find the ones that actually deliver value for the "everyday" high-spender.

I’m not here to give you a 20-card deck. I’m here to give you the easy version of the game: the 2 or 3 moves that result in 90% of the rewards with 10% of the effort. You handle the life; I’ll handle the loyalty.
